People expect more of their leaders than ever before.
The People Leadership Credentials program was created to address Leaders at all levels with a focus on developing the skills, mindsets, and behaviors expected of anyone who leads others at Accenture. We were asked to developed the internal website as a central hub for Accenture’s more than 700,000 employees. The site gives them the tools to navigate daily responsibilities with care, kindness, and connection - especially in the hard moments. While also developing their emotional intelligence and gaining insight into empowering leadership methods.
Influencing change starts with you. We can all learn to be better leaders in our various capacities.
How do we create a fluid user experience across 2 platforms?
How do we build a scalable site structure?
How do we simplify the learn by doing activity pages?
Define
The website process began by creating a testing site for a selected group of users. The site testing lasted approximately 3 weeks. We received valuable feedback on the proposed learning activities and website architecture.
Sitemap & Wireframe
We created a wireframe for the new site after receiving feedback from the testing site. This early Figma wireframe was used to outline the proposed user journey based on the curriculum. I collaborated with the learning
team to try and understand their objectives and how to translate their strategy into the most effective Wordpress site.
Insights
The Learn by Doing pages which make up the majority of the site are actually 15 pages make to look like 3. We needed to simplify the sub-pages for users so it didn’t seem as tedious to do the activities. Our solution was to have the sub-pages all look like the top level page and to use a tabbed menu to switch between sub-pages. The user on the front end would perceive it to all be the same page but the content is indexed as individual pages.
We were unable to simplify the site by removing content from the pages so we had to find creative ways to shorten the page scroll and user journey.
Progressive Disclosure was used here to control the flow and hierarchy of information so that all the info is not competing for the users attention at once.
Carousels have a notoriously poor click through rate when used automatically. We let users manually control the LBD slideshow so they can read at their own pace.
Ideate
Images
01
Photography selected had to look authentic, accessible and show diversity.
02
We looked for images that conveyed emotion.
03
Illustrations mixed with photography for approachable visual language.
04
Badges received after completing curriculum.
Solution
The final site went through an additional round of testing with a panel of users. We then made a series of minor copy and image updates based on the learning teams feedback before officially launching the site.
